I knock on the door and look around. The yard is immaculately done and not a thing is out of place. Much like the owners.

The door swings open and I can’t help but smile.

“Hey, big brother!” Cleo smiles as she steps to the side, letting me in.

“Hey, sis,” I say as I step inside.

Cleo shuts the door and flips the lock before turning to me.

“Come here.”

Cleo giggles as she steps into my arms, giving me a hug.

“How have you been?” I ask as I kiss the top of her head.

“I’ve been good,” she says as she pulls away. “You?”

“Can’t complain.”

“Uh-huh.” Cleo gives me a look like she doesn’t quite believe me.

Hell, who could blame her. I’ve been working nonstop since Autumn left. Spending as little time at home as I can.

“The chef knew you were coming and made steak with porcini white wine sauce and roasted broccoli and parmesan potatoes,” Cleo says over her shoulder as I follow her deeper into the house.

“Sounds fantastic.”

We step into the living room and Kai looks up.

“Nice of you to join us.” He smirks as he shuts the book in his lap.

“Thanks for the invite.”

“I got those results you wanted.”

My heart skips a beat. “Oh?” I say, trying to sound calm.

“Guys, no business before dinner,” Cleo scolds.

“Of course.” He smiles at his wife before turning toward me. “We will talk before you leave.”

“Sounds good,” I murmur as I sit down on the couch. “Have you done anything interesting this week, Cleo? Spend all of Kai’s money yet?”

Cleo rolls her eyes as she sits down on Kai’s lap. I watch as the dark prince wraps his arms around my sister, openly affectionate. Such a weird contrast to how I usually see him.

“No, but I did contemplate chartering a plane and flying out and seeing Autumn.”

“She hasn’t been gone that long,” I point out as I fight back a smile.

“Doesn’t matter. She’s my best friend. I miss her. I hate that you let her leave.” She pouts at me.

I change the subject quickly. “If you wanted to fly somewhere I’m sure your husband could take you somewhere more exciting than the Twin Cities.”

I have no need to discuss my relationship with Autumn with my sister. It’s messy enough as is.

“Don’t drag me into this,” Kai says.

“But that’s half the fun.” I snort.

“I heard from Rosa,” Cleo says, referring to her half brother’s mother.

“How are she and Sean?” I ask, genuinely curious.

Cleo and I share a mother while Cleo and Sean share a father. It’s a messed-up situation but it is what it is. Rosa moved to New York to start a new life, but she agreed to stay in touch and allow Cleo to visit.

“She seems good. I asked if she was seeing anyone and she said she had been out but didn’t know how serious it was.”

“I’m sure you have nothing to be worried about. Not only is Killian watching out for her, but I’m sure Greer has the Italians keeping an eye on her as well.
